We discuss the big disappointments and the performers who deserve to be named the Euro 2020 worst player. Sadly, France’s young starlet Mabappe is on top of the list. The tournament had so much buzz. It literally flew past us, and we are now approaching the very end. No doubt it is an exciting tournament, and a lot of cheers and tears we saw throughout the games. It was very delightful to see so many impressive performances day in day out. However, we had also a number of heartbreaking moments that will be remembered, at least for a while. We watched many stars experiencing worrying lows, as per online sportsbook news sites in Italy. Here are the most notable ones and the ones that are nominated by us to be named the Euro 2020 worst player. Maybe someday there will be an Award for that!

Mbappe’s missed penalty will not be forgotten

Given his stardom and his high price, all eyes were on Kylian Mbappe. He was playing for the tournament favorites. So, he was not only expected to win individual accolades but he was also expected to win the trophy for his team. None of that happened. Thus, he received heavy criticism from the media and the public. Throughout the tournament, Mbappe failed to score a single goal. Not only that but he got involved in the moment of the match against Switzerland when he wasted the last kick in the penalty shootout. It is hard to find anybody else to win over Mbappe as the Euro 2020 worst player.

Hazard was disappointing as expected

Obviously, Mbappe was not the only disappointment so far, but he was one of the biggest surprises at Euro 2020. The other big name that disappointed but as expected was Eden Hazard. He was once the best of the best in the world. But, due to his fitness and injuries, not much was expected from him at Euro 2020. That is what exactly happened. He did not yet score for Belgium. Worst than that he faced another setback against Portugal when he had to pull out with a hamstring strain. So, maybe because of the low expectations, Hazard will escape the fact to be named Euro 2020 worst player.

Fernandes failed to make anything tangible

Bruno Fernandes was very quiet in Portugal’s games. During all four games, he failed to make anything tangible. It was a worrying low for a player who has been one of the best players in the world after his move to Manchester United. Fernandes has great playmaking abilities and finishing. But, maybe he was tired. At least this is what many observers at online sportsbooks suggest. So, does he have an excuse? At least to the level of not being named as Euro 2020 worst player.

Muller failed to bring Germany back against England

Like Mbappe, Muller had a defining chance to bring back Germany into the game against England. He found himself alone with the ball facing Jordan Pickford. All England was on its toes. He made his shot and there was a miss. Of course, unlike the rest of the shortlisted players here, Muller already helped his country win numerous medals. At the 2014 World Cup, Muller was very crucial in helping his team to get gold medals. So, he will not receive a similar level of harsh criticism for sure. Muller already came out and apologized thoroughly for his miss. He said that wasting the opportunity hurts him like hell, according to SBNation. So, probably the German public will forgive.
