With no end of important news stories last week perhaps it's as well we take a second glance at some of the biggest from the last seven days

In the US the battle for the Republican nomination in the 2016 Presidential race is well underway and last week Donald Trump, one of 17 candidates for the position, prepared the way for a televised debate with his competitors by promising to release personal financial records, repeating his anti-Mexican rhetoric and insulting the majority of the press. At a recent rally Trump said of himself, “I'm, like, a really smart person.” Whether voters believe him or not is a question that may be answered after the August 6th debate.

Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian Prime Minister, was forced to flee a commemoration of the Srebrenica massacre after stones and bottles were thrown at him by a very hostile and angry crowd who felt his presence was unwelcome given the killing of 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys was perpetrated by Bosnian-Serbs during the Balkan wars of the mid-nineties, an act that Serbia and Bosnian-Serbs both still refuse to call an act of genocide despite international courts recognizing it as such. Vucic's glasses were broken during his rapid escape and he was struck in the face by a stone.

The Greek government continued its embattled conflict with its Eurozone creditors last week with no deal having been reached and successive attempts rejected by one side or the other. A proposal from Alexis Tsipras' Syriza led government was rejected by the EU despite it being harsher than the measures they originally asked for, after which the Greeks rejected a plan from the EU that would impose levels of austerity on the country that no nation could possibly accept.

In sport defending champion Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in the Wimbledon Mens Final winning 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 to take his third Wimbledon title, preventing Federer from becoming the first man to win it eight times. Will Federer still be around next year to take a shot at that particular record? You'll have to read our daily news pages to find out but in the meantime lets take a moment to look at some of the big stories we covered in the last seven days.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles police are seeking the driver of a dark Audi that was filmed reversing at speed for several miles through portions of the city, sometimes in the face of oncoming traffic as the driver veered across the central divide and back again at times nearly hitting pedestrians. At times exceeding the speed limit the car will now be traced by the dealership named on the plates, as authorities try to apprehend this most reckless of drivers.
